Gujarat is poised for a substantial infrastructure upgrade as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit on August 25th and 26th. During the visit, he will preside over the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies for a range of projects in Ahmedabad and Hansalpur, totaling over ₹5400 crore in investment.
The railway sector will receive an investment of more than ₹1400 crore, which will be utilized for projects such as the doubling of the Mahesana-Palanpur railway line and the gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan and Becharaji-Ranuja railway lines. In addition, the public will see the introduction of a new passenger train operating between Katosan Road and Sabarmati, along with a car-loaded freight train originating from Becharaji.
Focusing on road and bridge enhancements, the plan incorporates new underpasses and overbridges on the Ahmedabad-Mahesana-Palanpur and Ahmedabad-Viramgam routes. These expansions are designed to streamline both passenger and freight transportation.
Significant investments are committed to the power sector, with more than ₹1000 crore designated for the initiation of power distribution projects in Ahmedabad, Mahesana, and Gandhinagar. These initiatives are anticipated to decrease power interruptions and lessen disruptions caused by weather conditions.
Urban development projects will include slum redevelopment in the Ramapir No Tekro area of Ahmedabad, and expansion of the Sardar Patel Ring Road, and new water and sewage projects.
Administrative and digital initiatives will see the construction of a new Stamps and Registration building in Ahmedabad, together with a State-Level Data Storage Center in Gandhinagar. These projects are intended to improve government efficiency and advance the availability of digital services.
Furthermore, on August 26th, Hansalpur will be the site of two key achievements in the green energy and automobile sectors. The Prime Minister will initiate the export of Suzuki’s initial global electric car, the e-VITARA, which will be exported to 100 countries. At the same time, the local production of hybrid battery electrodes will commence at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant, with the goal of producing over 80% of the batteries within India.
