15-year-old ‘gang-raped’ in Assam

GUWAHATI: A 15-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped at a resort right here by 5 males, two of whom had assaulted her on an earlier event, too, the police stated on Friday.

According to Guwahati Assistant Commissioner of Police (ladies unit) Bhanita Nath, the accused lived within the neighbourhood of the woman.

As per the criticism lodged by the woman’s mom, two of the 5 culprits, who had first sexually assaulted the woman on February 16 and shot a video of the act, allegedly threatened to leak the clip if she revealed the matter to anybody.

On February 19, nevertheless, the 2 males, promising to delete the video, requested her to go to them once more, this time in a resort in Adalbari, Nath stated.

The teenager was then raped by 5 males within the resort room, she stated.

“The girl has undergone necessary medical tests and reports are awaited. In the meantime, we have launched an operation to nab the culprits,” Nath stated.

A case has been registered beneath numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, she added.
