A total of 517 Indian citizens have been brought back from Iran under ‘Operation Sindhu,’ as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). A dedicated evacuation flight arrived in New Delhi from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on June 21. This initiative was prompted by the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. Evacuees shared their experiences, highlighting the initial safety measures and subsequent relocations. The quick and efficient actions taken by the Indian government, supported by the Indian Embassy in Tehran, were met with gratitude. Evacuees thanked Prime Minister Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. The repatriated citizens conveyed their concerns regarding the situation in Iran and acknowledged the government’s crucial role in their safe return. The operation also encompassed the safe evacuation of Indian students, including those from Urmia Medical University, through Armenia. The conflict began with an Israeli airstrike and was followed by retaliatory strikes from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
