Delhi’s social safety net strengthened remarkably as CM Rekha Gupta launched 25 fresh Atal Canteens, pushing the tally to 71. This development means 71,000 hot, balanced thalis will be dished out every day for a mere Rs 5, a lifeline for the capital’s toilers and low-income groups.
At the ceremony, Gupta lambasted predecessor AAP regimes: ‘Eleven years of AAP meant stalled files and unfulfilled promises on Rs 5 meals. BJP, in one swift year, delivers 71 canteens—proof of our relentless drive.’ Her words resonated amid the upbeat atmosphere.
With LG Saxena in attendance, inaugurations spanned key areas, culminating in CM’s meal at East Delhi’s Geeta Colony canteen. Paying homage to Atal Bihari Vajpayee under PM Modi’s leadership, Gupta envisioned 100 canteens citywide. ‘These are symbols of respect for those building our city,’ she affirmed. ‘No one should go hungry; Rs 5 ensures nutritious, honorable sustenance.’
Joining her were Minister Harsh Malhotra, Ashish Sood, BJP’s Anil Goyal, and locals. The timing is poignant, post her trans-Yamuna mega-package: revamping 236 roads, fixing sewers, and tackling waterlogging for good.
Via X, Gupta articulated, ‘This package signifies commitment—not just construction, but equal opportunities, enhanced services, and dignity for Yamuna-side dwellers, fueling their role in a thriving Delhi.’ Such moves highlight BJP’s accelerated welfare model, blending nutrition access with infrastructure leaps for inclusive growth.
