Just 57 days into 2026, Jammu Police South Zone has notched an impressive feat by reclaiming nearly 90 lakh rupees in stolen and missing items. The milestone was celebrated at a Gandhinagar press briefing, where SP South Jammu returned possessions to owners, signaling a robust crackdown on crime.
At the forefront, Operation Reconnect delivered 196 mobile phones—worth 68 lakh rupees—thanks to Sergeant Rishi Abrol’s nimble ESU. Analyzing reports from across Jammu, the team orchestrated inter-state ops and tech surveillance for this haul. With 36 phones already restored and 160 following suit legally, owners breathed relief.
Operation Avatar spotlighted Gandhinagar’s resolve in resolving Sergeant Vinay Kumar’s bike theft (FIR 34/2026, Section 303(2) BNS). Inspector Jaypal Sharma, alongside PSI Nadeem Akram and ASI Pintu Kumar, pored over CCTV from JMC Smart City and technical data, arresting Mansa Chaudhary and Abdul Rehman. Their probe surfaced 15 two-wheelers, featuring Hero Splendors, Pulsar RS200, and Scooty Pleasure, valued at 12 lakh rupees.
Meanwhile, Operation Meghdoot targeted a salon burglary, nabbing one thief and recovering 10 lakh rupees in goods. These coordinated strikes, powered by preventive measures, electronic oversight, and city-wide cameras, exemplify modern policing. Jammu residents can expect continued vigilance as police build on this momentum to deter future crimes.
