About 81 COVID sufferers handled on board rail isolation coaches in 2nd spell; 8 discharged, no deaths

Around 81 sufferers have been handled thus far on board the railways’ COVID care coaches in 9 stations within the second wave of the pandemic out of which eight sufferers have been discharged, the Ministry of Railways stated on Monday.
The railways at present has 4,000 coaches, retrofitted as isolation models with a capability of 64,000 beds, able to be deployed throughout states, it stated.None of the amenities have registered any casualties, it stated.
Currently, these coaches are positioned at 9 main railway stations within the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
In Delhi, the railways has catered to the complete demand of state authorities for 75 COVID Care coaches with a capability of 1,200 beds.
While 50 coaches are positioned at Shakurbasti, 25 extra have been deployed at Anand Vihar station.Presently, 5 sufferers are admitted at Shakurbasti, whereas one has been discharged. In the primary COVID wave final 12 months, 857 sufferers had been admitted and discharged on the facility.
In Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, the railways has deployed 20 isolation coaches with a capability of 292 beds. Three sufferers are presently utilising the ability.
In Nandrubar in Maharashtra, 24 isolation coaches with a capability of 292 beds have been deployed.
