Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent activist from Ladakh, was arrested amidst violent protests concerning statehood and constitutional safeguards. He was moved to Jodhpur jail on Friday, following demonstrations that caused four fatalities and 90 injuries. In response to the unrest, mobile internet services have been suspended in the Leh district. Following his arrival in Jodhpur via a special flight from Leh, and after completing all necessary airport procedures, Wangchuk was escorted to the jail. He was then placed in a high-security ward and is now under 24-hour CCTV surveillance after undergoing a medical examination.
