Lucknow witnessed a transformative address by UP Governor and university Chancellor Anandi Ben Patel, who urged institutions to transcend teaching and embrace research, innovation, and social accountability for national self-reliance.

The pivotal review meeting for Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology unfolded under her stewardship at Jan Bhawan. Faculty leaders detailed progress and challenges across academics and administration, from filling vacancies and boosting admissions to enhancing placements, fostering startups, advancing research, refining hostels, and promoting sports.

Patel zeroed in on amplifying research in technical fields, particularly on pressing societal needs. Directives included strategies to commercialize university inventions for public good, prioritizing energy efficiency and local products. She passionately advocated extending drone innovations to farmers, arguing that technology’s worth lies in its grassroots economic impact.

Innovative solutions like food quality testing kits were greenlit for development and rollout. Scrutinizing hostels, she insisted on ongoing student engagement, with extra vigilance for girls’ welfare—health screenings, cleanliness, and security. Outside food and intoxicants must be curbed firmly, as wholesome nutrition builds resilient minds and leaders.

For startups, she sought barrier-free growth and MoU actualization, echoing NEP 2020’s ethos. She pushed for holistic curricula blending tech with social concerns, collaborations with orphanages and elder homes, and mandatory ‘Mother-Daughter Meets’ to nurture familial values.

Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel hailed the session as a game-changer, committing administrative aid for universities’ path to independence.
