Two folks with seven kg of pure uranium value Rs 21 crore have been arrested by the Nagpada unit of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Mumbai.
According to the company, details about the accused Jigar Pandya, a resident of Thane was acquired that he was going to promote items of Uranium.
Subsequently, Police Inspector Bhalekar alongside along with his staff laid out a entice to catch the accused.
During the investigation, Jigar revealed the title of his affiliate Abu Tahir, a resident of Mankhurd, from whom he procured items of Uranium, publish which Abu was arrested too.
The ATS seized about 7 kg 100 grams of Uranium from the possession of the 2 accused which is claimed to be value Rs 21.30 crores.
The recovered quantity of Uranium was despatched to Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) in Trombay, Mumbai for evaluation which confirmed that the substance was pure Uranium — extremely radioactive and harmful to human life.
A case has been registered beneath Atomic Energy Act, 1962.
