Armed Dacoits Shoot Jharkhand Couple in Rs 3L Palamu Heist
1 min readA chilling robbery in Palamu district, Jharkhand, saw four armed men shoot a Pragna center operator and her husband before escaping with three lakh rupees on Monday afternoon. The ambush near Hutar in Ramgarh jurisdiction left Shama Parveen nursing a leg injury, her partner Israfil escaping with a close shave as a bullet grazed his ear.
Originally from Barwadih, Latehar, Shama manages the Pragna center in Hutar. The couple was biking back from Barwadih when two motorcycles carrying the gang blocked their path. The criminals zeroed in on Shama’s cash-stuffed bag, but resistance led to gunfire—multiple shots fired in broad daylight.
Chaos ensued as one round lodged in Shama’s leg, another skimmed Israfil’s ear. The looters snatched the bag and fled, prompting locals to aid the wounded and rush them to Barwadih Community Health Center. Zilla Parishad member Santoshi Shekhar soon arrived, advocating for superior medical aid.
Ramgarh SHO Omprakash Shah detailed the police response: scene inspection complete, area under siege, CCTV under review, and informant networks activated. ‘Suspects will be in custody soon based on our leads,’ he declared confidently.
This incident highlights vulnerabilities in inter-district travel routes and the audacity of organized loot syndicates. As the injured heal, Palamu police intensify operations, promising residents a safer tomorrow through proactive policing.
