Thursday marked a new era in Arunachal Pradesh’s education landscape with Chief Minister Pema Khandu opening the inaugural Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Center in Papum Pare’s Doimukh. Aligned with national visions like NEP 2020 and Nipun Bharat, the center commits to foundational mastery for all children by Grade 3 end, customized for the state’s multicultural fabric.
Addressing attendees, Khandu underscored the peril of early learning gaps: ‘Basics ignored today become barriers tomorrow.’ This hub drives reform through activity-rich, child-focused strategies in government setups, prioritizing native tongues, play-infused lessons, real-time assessments, teacher upskilling, and parental partnerships.
The curriculum dives deep: literacy via tales for speech, phonics-led reading, interpretive reading, auditory transcription, and handwriting mastery. Tech integration shines with a tailored Android board offering CBSE digital modules. Numeracy employs concrete-to-abstract progression for numeral savvy, ops fluency, puzzle-solving, and group dynamics.
Complementing academics, a dedicated heritage nook immerses students in Arunachal’s tribal lore and customs, nurturing cultural pride. By fusing innovation with tradition, the FLN Center not only boosts learning metrics but also forges resilient, rooted young minds ready for future challenges.
