Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday that he would utilize Facebook Live as the sole platform to provide information regarding the investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg. This decision was made to prevent misinterpretations, as he believes that different media organizations selectively present portions of press conferences to align with their target audiences, potentially causing confusion among the public. The Chief Minister stated that all details concerning Garg’s death and the ongoing investigation will be communicated exclusively through Facebook Live, ensuring direct engagement with the public. He noted that the selective editing of media reports could sometimes lead to unnecessary public stress. The CM had previously announced the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the death of Zubeen Garg, which he did through a Facebook Live broadcast on Friday. After returning to Guwahati, the Chief Minister visited Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima, at her residence in Kahilipara. Earlier, Zubeen’s wife had returned the singer’s post-mortem report to the police, stating it was not her personal document, and the decision to make it public should rest with the investigators. Singer Zubeen Garg died in mysterious circumstances on September 19 while swimming in Singapore. He was in Singapore to attend the fourth Northeast India Festival organized by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company. A nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the CID is actively investigating the death in Singapore. CM Sarma clarified that the Assam Police cannot conduct investigations in Singapore and that crucial connections cannot be established until relevant parties provide information.
