Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced development projects worth Rs 6,500 crore in Assam and addressed a public gathering in Darrang. He also talked about the recent commemoration of Bharat Ratna recipient Sudhakanta Bhupen Hazarika, highlighting the government’s dedication to fulfilling the aspirations of Assam’s ancestors. He referred to a statement by the Congress party president regarding the Bharat Ratna awarded to Hazarika. Modi stated, “I am a devotee of Lord Shiva, and I swallow all the poison.” He spoke on the context of the 1962 war with China and how the Northeast people still suffer from the words of Pandit Nehru. The current generation of the Congress, he argued, is exacerbating the wounds. He added, that he, as a devotee of Lord Shiva, absorbs all negativity, but cannot tolerate the disrespect towards others. Modi further added that the public is his god, and his voice will be heard only before the public. The Prime Minister concluded by saying, “This is the time for the North East,” highlighting the region’s vital role in India’s growth.
