Bengal Assembly Welcomes BJP Speaker Rathindra Bose
1 min readKolkata witnessed a new era in West Bengal politics on Friday with the election of BJP MLA Rathindra Bose as assembly Speaker. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari guided him to the prestigious seat, offering warm felicitations to all new MLAs present.
In his address, Adhikari called for bipartisan cooperation to serve public interests and maintain house decorum. ‘This assembly embodies a crucial phase in our democratic legacy,’ he noted optimistically.
Controversy brewed early as BJP’s Tarunjyoti Tiwari rebuked critiques of Abhishek Banerjee’s government formation. Defending the mandate, he affirmed, ‘BJP stands ready to deliver for the people of Bengal.’
BJP MLA Moumita Biswas Mishra raised eyebrows over ex-CM Mamata Banerjee’s high court visit, questioning her license validity. The party seeks full disclosure to uphold accountability.
The assembly buzzed with the ED’s arrest of Kolkata Police’s Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sinha Biswas, a move BJP leaders praised effusively. Debashish Dhar remarked, ‘Long-overdue justice against entrenched corruption and mafia elements.’
Fellow BJP voices like Bankim Chandra Ghosh insisted on rigorous probes: ‘Misuse of office warrants severe penalties.’ Indranil Khan detailed systemic frauds in essential services, urging legal reckoning for harms to the underprivileged.
Trinamool MLA Kunal Ghosh countered by targeting central policies on escalating fuel costs. ‘The public suffers; the government must act beyond blaming global trends,’ he argued.
Under Speaker Bose’s stewardship, the assembly is poised to tackle pressing challenges, from anti-corruption drives to economic relief, shaping Bengal’s future trajectory.
