BHU refutes experiences of Nita Ambani becoming a member of as visiting professor

Amid college students’ protests, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Wednesday clarified that it has not taken any determination to nominate Nita Ambani, the spouse of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, as a visiting professor.
In a press launch, the college stated no such proposal was mentioned by the administration.

Recently, the college’s Social Sciences Faculty had despatched a proposal to Reliance Foundation, asking Nita Ambani to hitch the college as a visiting college at their Women Study Centre, an official had confirmed to The Indian Express. While the proposal has been despatched solely to Nita Ambani, authorities confirmed that the opposite two names thought-about for the remaining two visiting college posts had been that of Priti Adani, the spouse of billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, and Usha Mittal, the spouse of UK-based metal tycoon Lakshmi Mittal.
Earlier this morning, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) additionally refuted the experiences calling them “fake.” “Reports that Nita Ambani (in pic) will be a visiting lecturer at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) are fake. Research scholar Shubham Tiwari, who was among the many protesting college students, alleged that the step “smacked of a conspiracy”. “We are setting up a wrong example. Being the wife of a rich person is not an achievement and these people cannot be our icons. If you talk about women empowerment, then invite icons like Arunima Sinha, Bachendri Pal, Mary Kom or Kiran Bedi,” Tiwari stated. According to him, Vice-Chancellor Bhatnagar informed them that he had no details about the proposal being despatched to Nita Ambani.
