Bihar’s development momentum gained pace as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an on-ground assessment of key projects in Patna on Thursday. Starting with Digha Tourism Ghat on the Ganga, he pinpointed gaps and issued actionable orders to transform it into a tourist gem.
The site, originally Janardan Ghat, is under Tourism Department revamp. Impressed yet demanding more, CM Kumar mandated an all-encompassing garden development alongside a sturdy permanent ghat. ‘Make provisions for authentic Ganga Aarti here,’ he instructed. ‘Let devotees and tourists revel in the spiritual serenity, enriching the entire area’s cultural ethos.’
He placed special emphasis on essential services for river-bound visitors. ‘Build reliable, high-standard tourist facilities to eliminate any discomfort,’ Kumar asserted, signaling Bihar’s tourism ambitions.
Shifting gears, the CM examined the new parallel six-lane Ganga bridge project near JP Setu. ‘Ramp up efforts for timely completion,’ he directed officials. ‘This will slash traffic loads on JP Setu and enhance accessibility across North and South Bihar, benefiting millions.’
The inspection drew top brass including CM’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, and Tourism Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Devre. It builds on Wednesday’s PMCH redevelopment review, where quality was non-negotiable.
