The Bihar cabinet has approved the construction of two five-star hotels in Rajgir and a five-star resort in Vaishali, utilizing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This initiative aims to improve the quality of accommodation for tourists. The projects include two hotels on 10 acres near Mela Maidan in Rajgir and a resort on a 10-acre site at the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali. These projects will be built according to the Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Act, 2023. The government will lease the land to private developers. The cabinet believes that the new accommodations will provide better amenities and boost tourism. Other important decisions made include doubling the amount of the State Teacher Award, and reducing the fees for various competitive exams. Additionally, the cabinet also approved the holiday calendar for the year 2026. Significant allocations were also made for road construction projects, including a four-lane road connecting Rajgir Sports Complex and the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium. The cabinet also decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Upendra Nath Verma as a state function.
