As Bihar gears up for assembly elections, political parties have initiated their campaigns. The Congress is actively involved in its election preparations. In this regard, the Bihar Pradesh Congress Screening Committee will convene meetings on August 13th and 14th at Sadaqat Ashram. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Dr. Shashibhushan Prasad, the state spokesperson of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), celebrated with visually impaired girls at the Antar Jyoti Balika Vidyalaya in Kumhrar, Patna. 1. Congress Screening Committee to Hold Meetings:
The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee will host screening committee meetings on August 13th and 14th, 2025, at Sadaqat Ashram to prepare for the upcoming 2025 assembly elections. These meetings will include discussions on the political climate with potential candidates from various districts. Rajesh Rathore, Chairman of the Pradesh Congress Media Department, announced that the in-charge secretaries will gather comprehensive information from candidates in their respective districts and present it to the Screening Committee. The in-charges will meet with prospective candidates.
On August 13, in-charge secretaries Sushil Pasi and Devendra Yadav will meet with potential candidates from West Champaran, East Champaran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Nalanda, Patna City, Patna Rural 1 and 2, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, and Gaya districts. On August 14, 2025, in-charge secretaries Devendra Yadav and Shahnawaz Alam will engage with potential candidates from Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Saharsa, Supaul, Madhepura, Araria, Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, and Khagaria districts.
2. Congress Organizes Tiranga Yatra:
The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee commemorated the 83rd anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’ by organizing a Tiranga March from Sadaqat Ashram to the Shaheed Smarak on Saturday. They paid tribute to the martyrs at the Shaheed Smarak and pledged to uphold the nation’s unity and integrity. The Tiranga Yatra proceeded from Sadaqat Ashram via LCT Ghat, Rajapur, Boring Road Chauraha, High Court Mor, and Veerchand Patel Path, concluding at the Shaheed Smarak.
After the tribute at the Shaheed Smarak, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram led the Congress members in taking a pledge. He emphasized the nation’s history of sacrifice and dedication. He stated that Congress members are committed to maintaining the unity and integrity of the country. He also highlighted the party’s dedication and contribution to the country.
3. Rakhi Celebrations with Visually Impaired Girls:
Dr. Shashibhushan Prasad, the state spokesperson for the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), celebrated Raksha Bandhan with visually impaired girls at the Antar Jyoti Balika Vidyalaya in Kumhrar, Patna. The girls tied rakhis on his wrists. Dr. Prasad distributed sweets and clothing to the girls and assured them of his continued support. He also provided financial assistance to the school.
4. BJP MLA Extends Support to Orphans:
Dr. Sanjeev Chaurasia, the BJP MLA from the Digha assembly constituency, organized a meal for orphan children at Rajvanshi Nagar, Patna, on Raksha Bandhan. The orphan girls also tied rakhis on his wrist. JDU leader Kamal Nopani and other social workers were present.
5. CM Nitish Kumar’s Observance of ‘Bihar Tree Protection Day’:
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar marked Raksha Bandhan and ‘Bihar Tree Protection Day’ by tying a raksha sutra to a tree at Rajdhani Vatika in Patna on Saturday. The Chief Minister also planted a sapling. The ‘Bihar Tree Protection Day’ initiative was launched on August 13, 2012, to promote environmental awareness, encourage plant conservation, and increase afforestation.
Also in attendance were Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr. Sunil Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S.
