Bihar Political Transition: BJP Takes Lead with New CM

The swearing-in of Samrat Choudhary as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Wednesday morning at 11 AM marks the beginning of a new era for the state’s governance. After the NDA legislative party elected him as their leader, Choudhary finalized the preparations for a compact initial cabinet. Sources indicate that for now, only three leaders will take the oath, with a broader cabinet expansion and portfolio distribution planned for the coming weeks.

Among those joining Choudhary are Bijendra Yadav, who has been a mainstay in Bihar politics since 1990, and Vijay Chaudhary, a former Speaker of the Assembly. Bijendra Yadav’s long tenure, dating back to the Lalu Prasad Yadav era in 1991, brings immense administrative experience to the new setup. Vijay Chaudhary’s potential role as a Deputy Chief Minister would be a first for him, despite his previous high-ranking positions. The new government aims to balance the experience of the JDU with the rising influence of the BJP.
