A disturbing incident has unfolded in Navgachia, Bhagalpur, Bihar, where a man murdered his wife and disposed of her body in the Ganga River, attempting to portray it as a suicide. The husband, along with his family members, was involved in the crime. The police have arrested the husband and are continuing their investigation. The incident occurred in the BhabanGama area under the Bihpur police station in Navgachia. The accused husband confessed during questioning that a domestic dispute led to a fight resulting in his wife’s death. He then concealed the murder by placing her body in a sack and throwing it into the Ganga River. With the help of divers, the police retrieved the woman’s body from the river and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The individuals arrested in connection with the case include Gautam Yadav, the husband; Janki Devi, the mother-in-law; and Vasudev Yadav, the father-in-law. Navgachia SP Prerna Kumar disclosed the details of the case. The SP stated that a domestic dispute between the in-laws and the deceased resulted in the woman’s death. The husband and his family then disposed of the body in the Ganga and fled. SDPO Omprakash led a police team that arrested the husband from BhabanGama, and the body was recovered based on his information. Three suspects have been arrested, and the police are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects. According to SP Prerna Kumar, the woman’s father filed a complaint on June 16th alleging that his daughter was murdered by her husband and in-laws and that her body was missing. The police registered a case and established an SIT. Vasudev Yadav and Janki Devi were arrested within hours, followed by the arrest of Gautam Yadav. To mislead the police, the accused husband spread a false narrative that his wife had committed suicide. He informed the deceased woman’s family of the incident. The family then arrived at the scene. However, the in-laws had already escaped. Based on the written complaint filed by the family, the police registered a case of murder related to dowry.
