Thieves pulled off a Hollywood-style robbery in Bihar’s Araria, shattering a Tata showroom’s defenses to snatch two new Tata Nexon SUVs in a haul estimated at 30 lakh rupees. The early morning discovery at Mahadev Chowk has police scrambling and businesses bolstering their security.
Details from the scene show the intruders’ calculated approach. They disabled power lines first, creating the perfect cover of darkness. Busting through the shutter, they hot-wired or keyed the Nexons and sped off. To thwart identification, the DVR from the CCTV system vanished, as did the backup inverter and battery – items that could power prolonged surveillance.
Intriguingly, a third car with plates was taken but dumped nearby, suggesting the thieves prioritized unmarked vehicles for resale.
Purnea-based proprietor Manoj Patodia reported the crime immediately. Araria SP Jitendra Kumar mobilized a Special Investigation Team, directing them to analyze peripheral CCTV feeds. ‘Every angle is being explored; arrests are imminent,’ he promised.
Panic grips local vendors, who fear copycat crimes. ‘Night patrols are essential – this could happen to anyone,’ implored a nearby dealer. The theft highlights vulnerabilities in rural showrooms, where high-end cars tempt bold criminals.
As the SIT deploys tech and manpower, the community watches closely. This incident may catalyze stricter security protocols across Bihar’s auto sector, reminding owners that vigilance is the best defense against shadowy thieves.
