As part of this scheme, the Prime Minister directly transferred an initial amount of Rs 10,000 to 75 lakh women beneficiaries, with a total disbursement of Rs 7,500 crore. The primary objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to women, enabling them to start employment or livelihood activities of their preference, fostering economic and social progress. The beneficiaries can utilize the funds in areas like agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, and small-scale enterprises. The project emphasizes community involvement, including training facilitated by Self Help Groups and the development of Gramin Haat-Bazaars. The launch of the scheme involved a comprehensive statewide program reaching various administrative levels, with participation from over 1 crore women.
