A woman from Bihar was found dead in Delhi after allegedly taking her own life by hanging, with her husband being accused of inciting her and filming the event. The devastating incident occurred in front of the couple’s daughter. The daughter was crying as her mother struggled and eventually died by hanging.
The woman, from Kahalgaon, lived in Delhi with her husband and daughter. The reason for her desperate act was said to be financial strain. The woman and her husband had taken a loan of four lakh rupees from a finance company, which resulted in frequent arguments and tension within the family.
A video of the suicide is circulating, which shows the woman’s husband apparently encouraging her to take her own life. The daughter’s voice can also be heard in the video, as she was crying. The 1 minute and 12-second video shows the woman using a box and a bucket to make a noose with cloth and hanging herself from a ceiling fan hook. During this, the husband is seen silencing his daughter. The incident took place in the Ghaziabad police station area of Delhi.
The deceased was identified as Chandni Devi (31) from Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur. She was married to Vidyanand Rai, a resident of the Pipra police station area in Muzaffarpur, for 12 years. The couple had recently taken a loan of approximately four lakh rupees. The husband’s inability to repay the loan resulted in continuous pressure from finance company employees. Chandni Devi’s confrontations with her husband over the loan payments led to heated arguments, which are believed to have contributed to her decision.
According to Rakesh Mandal, the brother of the deceased, they were informed about the tragedy by his sister’s brother-in-law. He also mentioned that they have been threatened and warned not to come to Delhi. The deceased was the mother of three children, including a 5-year-old. The family is grieving deeply. The woman’s body is in the mortuary, and the police have arrested the husband. The family has not filed a formal complaint, seemingly out of fear, and have not visited the Ghaziabad police station.
