A brazen daylight assault unfolded in Bihar’s Jamui district when armed men sprayed bullets at prayer-goers exiting a mosque in Sikandra’s Jakhra village Sunday evening. The violence erupted post-Namaz around 7 PM, injuring four men severely in their upper bodies amid a 20-round shootout.
Chaos enveloped the village as gunfire echoed, with residents scattering in terror. The wounded, rushed to Sadar Hospital, include Numan Khan (critical), Mofiz Khan, Arbaaz Khan, and Armaan Khan, all promptly transferred to Patna Medical College for emergency surgery.
Roots of the attack trace to a half-year-old altercation involving cattle grazing disputes, marked by beatings and a pending court case after quick bail releases. Suspects Rizwan ‘Nato’ Khan, his son Numan, Gufran Khan, Abdullah Khan, and Shameem Khan are accused of orchestrating the ambush from hiding spots near the mosque.
With the area polarized and families in anguish, three police units descended to enforce calm amid rising hostilities. SDPO Satish Suman announced full identification of the fugitives via injured parties’ accounts, dispatching squads for intensive raids.
This episode highlights entrenched rivalries plaguing Bihar’s countryside, where personal scores settle violently. As investigations intensify, authorities urge community cooperation to apprehend the guilty, aiming to prevent further bloodshed and rebuild shattered trust in Jakhra.
