In Bihar, a man reunited with his family after being separated for 21 long years. The family shared that Sonu had disappeared in 2004. He was residing at his aunt’s house and vanished from there. Despite exhaustive searches, he remained untraceable, and the police were notified. The mother was heartbroken by Sonu’s disappearance and passed away from the grief. Now, his return has filled the family with happiness.
Sonu Kumar, also known as Manoj Kaptan, the son of Harishankar Prasad Singh from Pakda village in Navgachia, Bhagalpur district, disappeared from Raxaul in April 2004. He was approximately eight or nine years old at the time. Sonu was staying with his aunt, Nirmala Devi. On the day of his disappearance, his aunt was away visiting relatives. When she returned, Sonu was missing, which caused great distress to the family. They searched extensively in villages, cities, and even Nepal, yet found no trace of him. However, on Friday evening, their luck changed.
Harishankar was shown a photo and told his son, Sonu, was admitted to Dhanbad Medical College Hospital. Overwhelmed, the family traveled to Dhanbad, filled with a mix of hope and concern. At the hospital, they recognized Sonu. Overcome with emotion, Harishankar embraced his son, tears streaming down his face.
Deepak Singh, a hospital employee, played a key role in bringing Sonu and his family together. He explained that on Thursday morning, he encountered a patient who said his name was Sonu. After prompting, the patient remembered he was from Navgachia village in Bhagalpur. He also mentioned he belonged to a Bhumihar Brahmin family but couldn’t recall the village name. Deepak sent the photo and information to his relatives in Bhagalpur. Using social media, Deepak’s relatives reached out to Bhumihar Brahmin families in Navgachia. Sonu’s family contacted Deepak that night to verify the information. The next day, they arrived at the hospital.
Sonu’s mother had passed away two years prior due to the shock of his disappearance. According to the family, Sonu was the second of four children. After Sonu’s disappearance, his father, Harishankar Prasad Singh, was also devastated. As the years went by, happiness seemed to fade. While the other children grew up and started their families, the pain of losing one of his sons lingered in Harishankar’s heart.
