New Bihar Govt Portfolios: Big Roles for Deputy CMs

The distribution of portfolios in the Bihar government has been completed, with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary holding the maximum number of responsibilities. According to the official gazette, the CM will lead 29 departments, ranging from General Administration to Election and Science. This broad spectrum of control allows the Chief Minister to maintain a firm grip on the state’s bureaucratic and electoral machinery. Key development-oriented sectors like Sugarcane Industry, Labor, and Disaster Management also remain under his direct supervision. The move highlights the Chief Minister’s strategy to closely monitor various facets of the state’s progress and safety.

Deputy CM Vijay Chaudhary’s portfolio includes 10 departments such as Education, Minority Welfare, and Transport. His focus will likely be on social welfare and connectivity, which are vital for Bihar’s demographic needs. Vijendra Prasad Yadav, serving as the other Deputy CM, will handle 8 departments including Commercial Taxes, Social Welfare, and Rural Works. With these appointments, the government aims to address both urban and rural challenges effectively. The transition of power from the long-standing Nitish Kumar administration to Samrat Chaudhary’s leadership is now fully functional with this cabinet finalization, providing a clear framework for the new government’s agenda.
