Odisha is taking significant steps to promote electric mobility, with the Commerce & Transport and Energy Departments leading the charge. A brainstorming session on the upcoming Odisha Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0 laid out the state’s objectives, including a target of 50% Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in all new vehicle registrations by 2036. The state has witnessed an increase in EV registrations, from 1.16% in 2021 to 8.71% as of June 20, 2025. The state is in the process of revising the Odisha EV Policy 2021, with a focus on extending incentives for EV buyers and CPOs. The policy also explores an EV fund sourced from ICE vehicles and addresses range anxiety through increased PCS deployment. Financial assistance will be available through the PM e-DRIVE Scheme. Odisha aims to foster a robust EV ecosystem by fostering both supply and demand. The state is committed to green mobility, reduced emissions, and transforming into an EV leader.
