Patna police escalated their investigation into a 16-year-old’s fatal seventh-floor fall by staging a dramatic crime scene replay on Tuesday. At the Fulwari Sharif site near AIIMS, the SIT deployed four human-like dummies to replicate the February 12 incident at Sumitra Heights coaching center.
City SP West Bhanu Pratap Singh detailed the methodical approach: “Dummies equaled the deceased’s weight, dropped at varied angles per FSL protocols.” This aims to decode the fall’s dynamics—was it self-induced or forced?
Postmortem by AIIMS experts confirmed no sexual violence, yet doubts persisted. CCTV evidenced the Class 12 student’s solitary roof ascent, prompting detention of a carpenter, security guard, and two more. Initial quizzes yielded no breakthroughs.
The 11-strong SIT, spanning multiple stations, turned to reconstruction for objectivity. “Such recreations illuminate if injuries stem from push, imbalance, or intent,” Singh noted. FSL analysis of impact sites will shape follow-up inquiries.
This technique has proven pivotal in similar cases, bridging evidentiary gaps. With results imminent, the probe nears revelation, potentially reclassifying the death. The case spotlights urgent needs for rooftop safety in student-dense buildings, fueling public discourse on youth vulnerabilities.
