Bihar’s road safety crisis claimed three more young lives in Darbhanga on Thursday. Near Sonpur village on State Highway-17, a high-speed collision involving an unknown vehicle and a motorcycle carrying three underage boys resulted in their instant deaths.
The victims—Pankaj Kumar, Ankit Sahni, and Vivek Sahni—were en route from a cricket game in Akhrah village when disaster struck. The forceful impact hurled them across the road, causing unsurvivable injuries. Passersby discovered the bloodied trio and rushed them to the local PHC, where doctors confirmed their passing.
Hailing from the same close-knit community, the friends’ sudden loss has triggered widespread shock. Relatives gathered at DMCH after police transported the bodies for examination. Biroul SHO informed that all formalities are progressing, with families by the side.
Moti Sahni, uncle to one victim, shared the painful details: ‘They left for a bit of fun on the bike. That unknown car hit and fled.’ Mourning blankets the area, with villagers questioning road vigilance.
Investigation is in full swing, led by SDPO Prabhakar Tiwari. ‘We’re analyzing CCTV to nab the responsible party,’ he said, vowing accountability. This fatal mishap serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by reckless motorists and the perils of riding multiple on two-wheelers, urging immediate safety reforms.
