BJP’s Stronghold on SC-ST Seats Across Assam, Bengal, South

BJP’s electoral juggernaut rolled through reserved seats in recent polls, cementing NDA’s supremacy in Assam and West Bengal while marking gains in the south. This shift reflects a profound realignment, where government programs have won over SC and ST communities long courted by rivals.

Assam’s breakdown is telling. BJP-led NDA took eight of nine SC seats, dominating with five outright. For ST, the coalition’s 19-for-19 sweep—BJP’s 13 plus allies’ support—showcases unyielding control, aided by delimitation and expansions into tribal zones.

West Bengal’s results stunned observers: BJP’s 51 SC seats from 68 represent a 75% haul, leaving TMC with scraps at 17. All 16 ST seats went blue, fueled by tribal loyalty in key regions. Aggregating, BJP’s 67 out of 84 reserved seats signals a rout of incumbents.

Matua voters’ tilt was decisive in SC areas. Down south, AIADMK’s nine SC and one ST win in Tamil Nadu, plus AINRC’s two SC seats in Puducherry, extend NDA’s reach.

In essence, BJP has turned perceived vulnerabilities into strengths, embedding itself deeply in SC-ST politics. This momentum could sustain NDA’s national dominance, forcing a recalibration in India’s polarized electoral landscape.
