Breaking: TMC Fields 7 Candidates in Assam’s 2nd List

Election buzz in Assam heightened as TMC rolled out its second list of assembly poll candidates on March 22, with seven names finalized under Mamata Banerjee’s directive.

Here’s the breakdown: Sherman Ali Ahmed eyes Mandia in Barpeta. Hajo-Sualkuchi (SC) has Rosie Ahmed (Funu Das). Avijit Mazumdar steps up for Guwahati Central, Inus Kumar Kandapan for Chabua-Lahowal (Dibrugarh), Paresh Bora contests Mariani (Jorhat), Parimal Ranjan Roy takes Karimganj North, and Aziz Ahmed Khan (Ranu Khan) for Karimganj South.

A key update: The candidate for Chamaria (seat 27) from the first list has been dropped, showcasing TMC’s adaptive approach.

Wishing them success, the party emphasized serving the masses and building voter confidence.

Building on the initial 17-candidate announcement over the weekend, Assam’s 126-seat legislature includes nine SC-reserved and 19 ST-reserved seats. The state sends 14 to Lok Sabha and seven to Rajya Sabha.

All seats vote on April 9 in one go, with results on May 4. As TMC fortifies its presence, the polls promise a fiercely contested battleground.
