Epicenter of valorous sagas and ancient sun worship, Mahoba is set to redefine Bundelkhand tourism. Backed by Swadesh Darshan 2.0, a comprehensive Rs 24.98 crore development is reshaping its infrastructure for cultural immersion and learning.
Uttar Pradesh, led by PM Modi’s blueprint and CM Yogi’s drive, extends its tourism footprint to Bundelkhand after major spiritual sites. Mahoba’s Chandela relics and folklore position it perfectly. The initiative encompasses a pioneering Sun Interpretation Center, landscaped triangular gardens, ornate gateways, and smart signage—all advancing at pace for 2026 completion.
‘Bundelkhand is more than geography; it’s our cultural heartbeat,’ asserted Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh. Visitor numbers hit 28 lakh in 2025, proving momentum. Spanning 4,210 sqm, the Sun Center promises interactive storytelling on solar heritage worldwide.
Its architecture evokes time’s passage with phased roof designs and a solar clock. Sustainability shines through solar power, rainwater systems, eco-paving, and waste handling. Galleries will vividly depict solar roles in myths—from Helios to Konark—alongside science of stars, climate, calendars, and life, powered by immersive 3D and multimedia.
A central Sun God chariot statue graces the triangular garden, while three majestic entrances symbolize Mahoba’s pride. Amrit Abhijat, Additional Chief Secretary, stressed educational value: ‘It bridges generations with Bundelkhand’s wisdom, fostering eco-tourism.’ This bold venture positions Mahoba as an unmissable Bundelkhand gem, blending past glories with future innovations.
