Cabinet approves DA hike by 4 %

NEW DELHI: In a competition bonanza for lakhs of Central authorities staff and pensioners, the Union Cabinet on Thursday gave its clearance for the discharge of a further installment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief at 4 %.
This could be due from July 1, 2022.
A complete burden of Rs 12,852 crore could be borne by the exchequer in the direction of cost of those allowances for the present fiscal, official sources stated.
From July 1, 2022, until March 31, 2023, a complete of Rs 8,568 crore could be spent on it. DA hike might be useful for over 50 lakh Central authorities staff and 62 lakh pensioners.
With this, the DA has been elevated from 34 % to 38 % for all the workers.
