Corruption charges rock the Ordnance Factory Service as CBI registers a disproportionate assets case against its former Chief General Manager. The officer, from the 1998 batch, oversaw operations at Firozabad’s Hazratpur Ordnance Equipment Factory before his current assignment at Kanpur’s Troop Comforts Limited Training Academy.
The investigation kicked off with an FIR on February 26, zeroing in on assets accumulated illicitly from April 2022 to December 2025. CBI sleuths calculated an excess of Rs 55.58 lakh (73.28%) that the officer failed to justify through salary, perks, or legal channels.
Court-sanctioned searches on February 27 hit five sites spanning Agra, Lucknow, Bareilly, and Kanpur—residences and offices alike. The hauls were damning: property papers for three homes, including recent buys in Agra (2025) and Lucknow (2023). From these abodes, teams recovered Rs 49 lakh in precious jewelry, Rs 5 lakh cash, plus ledgers of dubious transactions, bank books, and luxury asset records.
This isn’t just about numbers; it’s a tale of betrayal in a sector vital to national security. The CBI’s multi-city operation highlights sophisticated intel-gathering and inter-agency coordination. With evidence mounting, the accused faces potential suspension, prosecution, and asset forfeiture.
As the agency gears up for questioning, this case could trigger wider audits in defense PSUs. Public trust in these institutions demands nothing less than ironclad integrity.
