Schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram districts will be closed on Tuesday to ensure the well-being of students amidst predictions of heavy rainfall and water accumulation. This holiday declaration was made by district officials late Monday as a necessary precaution. Residents are urged to be vigilant, limit travel, and pay close attention to advisories issued by the government and disaster relief teams. Sadly, the cyclone’s adverse effects have led to three deaths in Tamil Nadu from rain-related incidents. Neighboring Sri Lanka is experiencing a severe crisis, with 334 confirmed fatalities and widespread damage, especially in Colombo. India has actively provided support, sending 53 tons of relief goods to Sri Lanka as part of Operation Sagar Bandhu, which began on November 28 to offer humanitarian assistance in the cyclone’s aftermath.
