Agriculture Minister Transfers Rs 8.2 Crore Incentive Amount to 3556 Seed Producing Farmers of the State

Need to work together for self-reliance in seed production: Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam

Raipur, May 01, 2026/Minister of Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Ram Vichar Netam today transferred an incentive amount of Rs 8 crore 01 lakh 97 thousand for the financial year 2024-25 to 3556 seed-producing farmers of the state online directly into their accounts through DBT at a program organized by Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation in Nava Raipur. This amount was provided to the beneficiaries under the Mandi Fund. On this occasion, hundreds of farmers from across the state were connected through video conferencing from processing centers. Minister Shri Netam interacted with the seed-producing farmers, boosted their morale for quality seed production, and also released a book based on the corporation’s achievements over one year. Principal Secretary Agriculture Production, Smt. Shahla Nigar, was specially present at the program.

Addressing the program, Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam said that the farmers have produced seeds through tireless hard work and effort. The incentive amount has been transferred directly to their accounts with the objective that they receive the fruits of their labor. He appealed to the farmers to cultivate pulses, oilseeds, millets, vegetables, and other income-generating crops in addition to paddy. He said that paddy cultivation should be avoided during the summer days as it requires a lot of water. We also need to pay attention to maintaining environmental balance. He said that instead of paddy, farmers should cultivate pulses and oilseeds. This helps in maintaining soil fertility and also reduces water consumption.

Minister Shri Netam said that the government’s reputation is linked to the quality of seeds. He appealed to the seed-producing farmers to produce quality seeds with honesty. He told the farmers that with the dedication and hard work of the state’s farmers, they will become self-reliant in seed production. The government’s commitment to farmers is a priority. He emphasized working together to advance Chhattisgarh as an agricultural producing state.

Seed Corporation Chairman Shri Chandrahans Chandrakar said that it is a matter of pride that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Minister Shri Netam, the corporation is providing incentive amounts to seed-producing farmers on time. Efforts will continue to be made in the future to honor the hard work of farmers on time. He said that our government has increased the pride of farmers in the country by purchasing paddy from farmers at 21 quintals per acre at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal. On this occasion, he also presented some demands from the farmers, which Minister Shri Netam assured to consider seriously. Managing Director of State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation, Shri Ajay Agrawal, provided information about the objectives of the program.

On this occasion, Minister Shri Netam interacted with farmers from Kabirdham, Ambikapur, and Raipur districts and inquired about their well-being. The farmers expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, and Corporation Chairman Shri Chandrahans Chandrakar for providing the incentive amount for the year 2024-25.
