Amit Shah Outlines Massive Tribal Welfare Plan for Post-Naxal Bastar
2 min readFollowing the declaration of Bastar as a Naxal-free zone, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has unveiled a comprehensive socio-economic roadmap aimed at transforming the lives of the tribal population in Chhattisgarh. During his visit, Shah announced that the focus will now shift from security operations to large-scale rural development. A major highlight of this plan is the establishment of a robust dairy network in the Bastar division. To jumpstart this initiative, the government has pledged to provide every tribal household with a cow and a buffalo, aiming to create a sustainable source of income and nutritional security.
Shah explained that the goal is to make the tribal communities self-reliant and integrated into the mainstream economy. Beyond dairy farming, the government intends to streamline the collection and sale of forest produce, ensuring that the actual benefits of the forest’s wealth reach the tribal collectors directly without middle-men interference. The Home Minister emphasized that for too long, Naxalism had stunted the economic growth of the region, keeping the locals in poverty to fuel their own agenda. Now that the threat has been neutralized, the state is prepared to pour resources into education, healthcare, and livelihood programs.
The vision shared by the Home Minister involves turning Bastar into a model of tribal prosperity. He stated that the government is committed to protecting the cultural identity of the region while providing modern amenities. This transition from a conflict zone to a development hub is expected to set a precedent for other formerly affected areas. By focusing on grassroots empowerment through livestock distribution and forest-based industries, the administration aims to ensure that the peace achieved by the security forces is permanent and leads to a tangible improvement in the quality of life for every resident.
