Anti-Naxal Drive in Sukma Yields Results: 23 Naxals, with ₹1.18 Crore Bounty, Surrender

The anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district achieved a major breakthrough with the surrender of 23 Naxals on Friday. These individuals collectively had a bounty of ₹1.18 crore. The group comprised 8 hardcore Naxals linked to the PLGA battalion and others active in various Naxal organizations. The surrendered Naxals included 1 DVCM, 6 PPCMs, 4 ACMs, and 12 party members, including 9 women and 14 men, with 3 Naxal couples among them. The primary reasons for the surrender were the Chhattisgarh government’s “Naxalite Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy” and “Niyad Nella Nar Yojana.” The establishment of security camps in remote regions and enhanced police actions also contributed to this decision. Specifically, 11 Naxals had a bounty of ₹8 lakh each, 4 had ₹5 lakh, 1 had ₹3 lakh, and 7 had ₹1 lakh. The event is considered a major victory for the Chhattisgarh government’s campaign against Naxalism and is anticipated to inspire more Naxals to surrender.
