In Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh, a public school faced a health crisis that led to 78 students receiving anti-rabies vaccinations. The mid-day meal served at the school was contaminated by a stray dog, and despite the knowledge of the incident, the food was still served to the students. The incident happened on July 29th at the government middle school in Lachhanpur, Palari block. Authorities are conducting a full investigation into the event. Preliminary findings suggest that a stray dog contaminated the vegetables used in the meal. Even after some students informed their teachers, the self-help group that prepared the food ignored the warnings and served the contaminated vegetables, which were consumed by approximately 84 students. Angered by the incident, parents have demanded that the school management take action and requested the removal of the responsible self-help group. Health officials stated the vaccine was given as a precaution. The health official added that the vaccination drive was conducted in response to the demands of local residents, parents, and the School Management Committee (SMC).
