In a significant move, the Indian government has approved a bonus for railway employees, timed to coincide with Diwali and Chhath Puja. During a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a 78-day Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) was sanctioned for railway employees. Over 10.91 lakh non-gazetted railway employees are eligible for the bonus. The government has allocated Rs 1865.68 crore for the bonus payments, which are planned to be completed before Diwali. This will enable employees to celebrate the festivals with added financial comfort. The bonus will be distributed among various railway personnel, including track maintainers, loco pilots, track managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsmen, employees of the Railway Ministry and other Group employees.
