The disappearance of a man near the Gangrel Dam in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, resulted in a massive search operation, only to find him safe and sound in Delhi. Hemant Chandravanshi was initially believed to have drowned after his belongings were found at the dam. Police and divers spent 12 days searching the waters. The investigation shifted focus when authorities tracked Chandravanshi to Delhi. It was uncovered that he faked his death to escape crippling debt. Chandravanshi, from Kawardha, was with friends at the dam on May 24. He asked his friends to go to a nearby shop and disappeared. His friends alerted the police. The police initiated a search operation in the water but were unsuccessful. The police then tracked Chandravanshi’s mobile phone, leading them to Delhi. He was apprehended and brought back to Dhamtari for questioning. Authorities confirmed that Chandravanshi was struggling with severe financial issues, which led him to create the false narrative of his death.
