Chhattisgarh is celebrating an unprecedented achievement in its agricultural sector with the ongoing Kharif marketing year 2025-26 paddy procurement. As of January 13, 2026, the state has achieved a landmark by purchasing 105.14 lakh metric tons of paddy from 17,77,419 farmers. More significantly, the farmers have received a substantial ₹23,448 crore in their bank accounts, marking the highest procurement volume and financial payout to farmers by this date in Chhattisgarh’s history.
An analysis of historical data reveals the magnitude of this year’s success. Comparing the figures up to January 13, the 2020-21 season saw 72.15 LMT of paddy procured and ₹13,550 crore paid. In 2021-22, this amounted to 68.77 LMT and ₹13,410 crore. The 2022-23 season recorded 97.67 LMT and ₹20,022 crore. The current year’s performance of 105.14 LMT and ₹23,448 crore clearly positions it as a record-breaking season, both in terms of quantity and farmer remuneration.
The state government attributes this remarkable outcome to its unwavering focus on transparent procurement processes, timely payments, and farmer-friendly policies. This has significantly enhanced farmer trust and contributed to a stronger rural economy. The government’s commitment extends to maintaining the integrity of the procurement system through strict vigilance. Actions have been taken against officials for storage discrepancies, underscoring a commitment to accountability and zero tolerance for malpractice.
