The Election Commission has officially released the draft electoral rolls for Chhattisgarh after conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR). This revision process has led to the removal of over 27 lakh names from the state’s voter database. The SIR’s objective is to ensure the integrity of the electoral rolls by verifying every entry, leading to the deletion of 6,42,234 deceased voters, 19,13,540 individuals who have moved or are unavailable, and 179,043 cases of duplicate voter registrations. The commission highlighted the submission of 1,84,95,920 enumeration forms, showcasing public engagement. The successful implementation was driven by the dedication of electoral registration officers, assistant officers, and a vast network of BLOs and volunteers, with significant input from political party representatives.
