Solar energy generates new income streams. Excess energy produced can be sold back to discoms. A 2kW or higher capacity solar plant can produce over 200 units of electricity monthly for 25 years, making the scheme’s benefits higher than the half-electricity scheme. Consumers in Chhattisgarh are becoming energy producers and sellers. The scheme offers 20-25 years of free, reliable energy and creates opportunities to generate additional income through the sale of excess electricity. Solar panels also promote a green lifestyle. The half-electricity bill scheme will benefit the poor. Consumption up to 100 units will receive a 50% discount. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai aims to implement solar panels on every home within the next five years. He hopes to make Chhattisgarh a model for green energy for the entire nation.
