The Mahasamund Police have successfully solved a gruesome murder case that lay dormant for nearly a year. The investigation began when Sunita Rajak disappeared after leaving her sister’s home in Patewa. It has now come to light that she accepted a lift from Suraj Dhruv, who deceived her by promising a better life. Dhruv kept her hidden in a house for over 45 days. However, when Sunita pressured him to let her go, he chose to end her life. To ensure she could never be identified, he transported her body to the dense Sagon forest near the Kodar Dam and set it ablaze. For months, the identity of the charred remains remained a mystery until DNA samples from the victim’s family provided a match. This forensic evidence led police straight to Dhruv, who eventually confessed to the heinous act.
