Sukma’s Tribal Drama Showcases Brilliance, Performance Based on Muria Tribe, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudeo Sai Honored, Jagdalpur, February 9, 2026/ Sukma district has hoisted the flag of success in ‘Bastar Pandum 2026’, organized to preserve the glorious culture, art, and traditions of the Bastar division. In this grand divisional level competition held at Lal Bagh Maidan in Jagdalpur, Sukma’s tribal drama troupe was awarded the first prize for their excellent performance. The country’s Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudeo Sai honored the artists of Sukma with mementos and a check of Rs 50,000. A Unique Initiative for Cultural Preservation, The main objective of this program organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudeo Sai is to preserve the original form of Bastar’s traditional dance, songs, food, crafts, and regional literature and to provide a big platform to local artists. This initiative by the administration is not only breathing life into dying art forms but also paving the way for the sustainable development of tribal groups. Sukma’s Artists Won the Competition, Under the guidance of Collector Shri Amit Kumar and efficient management of District CEO Shri Mukund Thakur, a total of 69 artists from Sukma district performed their art in 12 disciplines. First Position The team from Parla Gatta, a dependent village of the remote Gram Panchayat Kondasaonli in Konta development block, won in the drama category. Vivid Portrayal of Art, The 13-member troupe of the Muria tribe (9 men, 4 women) mesmerized the audience with the artistic use of daily utility items such as palm leaves, peacock feathers, bows and arrows, and fishing nets. These Artists Brought Pride to the District, Artists from Parla Gatta in Konta development block, Lekam Lakka, Prakash Sodi, Vinod Sodi, Joga Sudam, and their team have made Sukma district proud with their talent. Nodal officers Shri Maniram Markam and Shri P. Srinivas Rao played a special role in the success of the artists, as they played a vital role in bringing the artists to the divisional level and encouraging them.
