A headmaster in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, has been suspended for allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior with students. The headmaster is accused of showing students obscene photographs and engaging in acts of misconduct. The incident came to light when students refused to go to school and informed their families. The parents then discussed the matter at a committee meeting on August 6th, and a written complaint was filed with the BEO on August 7th. A cluster coordinator was assigned to investigate the matter, and the resulting report was submitted to the DEO. Consequently, the headmaster and an assistant teacher have been suspended. The headmaster, Netram Verma, and the assistant teacher, Prasad Tiwari, are the individuals suspended. The police have been notified to register a case. The suspension order states that the headmaster summoned students to his office, showed them obscene images, touched them inappropriately, and committed obscene acts, thereby violating school conduct guidelines. He has been assigned to the BEO Dongargarh. The assistant teacher was suspended for keeping the incidents of the headmaster’s inappropriate behavior hidden for several years. The DEO explained that a probe was initiated after complaints from the villagers, resulting in the headmaster and assistant teacher’s suspension and a letter to the police for an FIR. The primary school has 70 students, and both teachers have been suspended, leaving the school without any active teaching staff.
