A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier suffered leg injuries in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday. The incident took place at 1:45 PM in a forested area near Gogunda, falling under the Fulbagdi police station. Officials confirmed that a jawan from the 74th Battalion CRPF inadvertently stepped on a pressure IED during a routine patrol, leading to the blast. He received immediate medical attention at the site and was subsequently evacuated to Raipur by air for further medical management. The Bastar region’s interior pockets, including Sukma, are frequently targeted by Maoists who plant IEDs along routes used by security personnel. These devices pose a significant threat to both forces and civilians. This blast follows a deadly IED attack on June 9 in Sukma, which resulted in the death of an Additional Superintendent of Police and injuries to two other officers.
