IMD Forecast: Early Monsoon for Kerala Amid Intense Northern Heat
1 min readIndia is currently divided by two distinct weather phenomena: a relentless heatwave in the north and an advancing monsoon in the south. According to the latest IMD reports, the heatwave will continue to intensify across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh for the next week. Madhya Pradesh is also on alert, with 31 districts expected to witness extreme temperatures. The dry, hot winds from the west are pushing the mercury to record levels, with some parts of Rajasthan already seeing temperatures near 46 degrees Celsius. The public is urged to take precautions as these conditions are expected to last through May 24.
On the other hand, the southwest monsoon is showing signs of an early arrival. It has already covered parts of the South Bay of Bengal and is expected to hit Kerala by May 26. This transition is bringing heavy rainfall to the northeastern states as well. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya have been placed under alert for heavy rain and lightning. In the south, states like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also likely to experience thunderstorms. This dual weather pattern highlights the complexity of the current transition season, as the nation moves from the peak of summer toward the rainy season.
