Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P. Sundarraj stated that the search operation was initiated based on specific intelligence provided by surrendered insurgents. While the forces were identifying and neutralizing hidden explosives, a concealed IED was triggered, leading to the loss of four dedicated personnel. Despite the tragedy, the IG emphasized that security operations against regional threats will continue with full vigor to ensure peace in the area.
